Marketeering

Yes! We did it! The market on sunday was a blast!

Everything went smoothly (*ah hem :$) and we all stayed super perky and cheerful throughout the whole day. But seriously, how could you not be cheerful in that place? I had SO much fun chatting to everyone who came up and had questions and peeked over at our super filled up card table of goodies (see above). We were at the end of a corridor and if you walked up to us you couldn't see the next room full of stalls, so I got in the habit of telling everyone that turned around to keep going!
In turn this got me all chatty and much more comfortable, and well, I couldn't stop! When I left the stall to have a walk around the market I was still in stall-person mode and, out of context, i think its a bit over-bearing.. hehe. But i guess everyone was so lovely it didnt matter! hurruh!

Have you noticed all the SUPER DUPER little signs on our table?? IKR!?**
Sarah is quite the illustrative talent! She just drew them all up one evening. Just like that! Crazy!
Be sure to go check out her blog.

I told you previously about the apple hanging in the tree..yes? How cute is it?
I'm not actually sure if people noticed it that much, cos i reckon if they did they would have commented more. But that's kind of what i like about it, its like a small detail that's extra special when you DO discover it and its not completely obvious. :)

Sorry I didn't get better pictures of my scarves, i really do want to show you those. But to tell the truth i just remembered to take a couple of snaps at the end, and the scarves weren't in a very good position for photographing anyways, nor were the totes, sorry about that. You'll just have to come check us out next time... ;)

We'll be at the next Market as well
Mark it in your diaries folks!
AUG 21st

I also only got one full shot of the stall...

Yes. Josie is crazy. but thats why we love her. and she has a wonderful coat on.

We had just started packing up so thats not quite what it looked like either.

* so errr, there may have been a slight issue at the beginning where Josie and Sarah had to, um, go all the way home because we... forgot the TABLE! ha! of all the things to forget! bahahahaaa

* :$ is the blushing face from msn.. did you get that reference? man i miss msn.

Letterpress #2

There are a lot of really amazing videos on letterpress out there, it really is such an amazing process. I found this video by Gestalten TV about Studio on fire just extraordinary. The process for him is a little different, he is using flexograph plates instead of hand setting the type in metal like the classic ones. But this is what happens where I work so I find it interesting to go through the whole process on a much smaller scale. Also the designs!! oh the designs!

Crochet!

I recently started something I think will be rather significant in my life. I learnt to crochet! I've always wanted to learn, my grandmother was amazing at it, she taught me to knit when I was really young, but she passed away before I could learn crochet. Since then I just haven't gotten around to it.
Anyways. It really is an amazing thing to do, its much much better than knitting in my opinion, though they both have their pros and cons, I just reckon crochet is so much more instantly satisfying. I'm going crochet crazy!

My first big project is making a granny square quilt!! These are some of the things that have inspired me for it. I absolutely love the white borders surrounding the colour. I've found a whole lot of really creative granny squares that i'm often tempted to use, but i must resist the urge, i really just want the quilt to be about the colours and the balance all over it. I hope it will be an heirloom, i have crocheted a lot of love into it. Perhaps I shall post some WIPs. that will be fun.
Let me know if you would like credit... sorry i lost them!!

How inspiring!?! I made a collar something like these the other day, THAT was fun! seriously it took me about 30mins, Its just so satisfying!!
garments from Stay fancy free and collars from Call me Mimi

What I plan to make and absolutely love is potholders! they are just the right style for my house, and so simple, they add just the right amount of colour i think! yes? how cool!

HOW FRICKEN CUTE!!!!!! you certainly could not knit these!!

basically. ya'll should go crochet some. I'm sure Pip would agree!!

These are the playing pieces from my board game i designed during the year. (a shot from my folio)

Screen printing delights.

You may have seen this on the Etsy blog, which i do very much recommend you read.

Especially since you'll find things like this on it. Its from the handmade portraits series.
This house absolutely blows my mind. I think because I'm venturing towards it slightly in my own apartment.
Oh the design!

Jana Traboulsi

This is Jana Traboulsi.
She is from Beirut.
I like her a lot.

Jana's work is just so lax. like she's never scared to just put pen to paper. It makes me want to fetch my sketchbook right about now.

Annual Report!

I recently finished this rather extended class brief, the Atelier Gallery annual report!
and boy! does it feel good to be finished!

here are a couple of spreads...

For this particular assignment i set it up as a two colour design, just so i could have a go at printing it on our risograph!
(which I certainly plan to tell you more about .. soon.)  These are some examples of the kind of qualities you get in the printing... i just love it! I know those photos arn't particularly good, sorry about that. But i do plan to do alot more risoposting. I hang out with my riso alot so its bound to pop-up left right and centre.
